Mr Whitchurch’s Hydrant Finder is a fast, mobile-first UK hydrant finder for locating nearby fire hydrants using your current GPS location.

Designed For Field Use

The main app opens directly to the search interface so it can be used quickly outdoors, including in poor signal conditions. Results prioritise distance, diameter, map links, and fallback latitude/longitude values.

Hydrant Data

Hydrant records are derived from OpenStreetMap data and imported into a Cloudflare D1 database. Each record keeps the original OpenStreetMap node ID and raw tag data where available.

Nearby hydrants are sorted by distance from your GPS position.
Diameter, description, address, and coordinates are shown when available.
Apple Maps and Google Maps buttons are provided for navigation fallback.

Standpipe is an aid to locating mapped hydrants. It should not be treated as an authoritative emergency service asset register. Always follow local service procedures and verify hydrant availability on site.

Coverage

The current data pipeline targets Great Britain OpenStreetMap extracts. Coverage and accuracy depend on the quality and completeness of OpenStreetMap hydrant tagging in each area.
